Mr. Berchild from the USA
Today we had a really exciting program, with Christopher Berchild, who is from the USA and an associate professor in the Department of Theater.
First he introduced himself and played a sort of theatre game with us. After that he started to speak about how he started up his job and now what he is doing. He is teaching drama at the University of Pécs. He also told us that there were many skills that you could improve by working in a theater and if you don’t want to be on stage you don’t have to, you can also do other jobs for example designing clothes and these kind of things. Officially he is a director but he is doing a lot of other jobs. We saw a video about Hamlet being played by one man but not missing any of the character or situation. It was really interesting. When we finished we asked him some questions about living in the USA and how he likes our country. He also told us that he would go home soon to have another teaching job. As I could see he really likes his job and enjoys working with people. To sum up we had a really good time with him and learned a lot of new things about theater. It was a great opportunity to gain some experience in speaking the language. I’ve been also taking interest in working in a theater. 🙂
