This year, the HOHE County Children’s Fishing Competition was held for the third time, and the elementary school students of our Foundation in Szeged entered once again. Six young people from Szeged Group 1 participated in the contest, forming two three-member teams: our competitors represented the Foundation in the U12 and U15 age categories. We kicked off this year’s nature club sessions at the Community House with this event full of rich experiences.
Organized by the Children and Youth Fishing Workshop of the Herman Ottó Fishing Association in Szeged, the competition was hosted by Fehérpart-Szilvás on September 19, 2026. The goal of the team competition was to allow the county’s child anglers to measure their knowledge, perseverance, and skills within a friendly yet regulated environment.
Competitors took their positions across three sectors at fishing spots determined by drawing, after which they fished for three hours in accordance with the rules. Throughout the day, junior mentors from Szeged Group 2 assisted the participating children: supporting them in preparations, organizing equipment, and helping them experience the competitive environment with greater confidence and enjoyment.
Although we did not reach a podium finish this year, the day still offered many valuable moments. Preparing together, teamwork, proximity to nature, and the joy of fishing provided a lasting memory for every participant. The children took part in the competition with discipline, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship, which is a great achievement in itself.
The competition provided a fantastic opportunity for our youth to gain new experiences, strengthen their respect for nature, and further enhance team cohesion through shared experiences. We thank the organizers for the opportunity to take part in this meaningful and activity-filled day. We hope to be there again at the next county children’s fishing competition and build even more wonderful memories.
