“On Saturday, September 19, Pécs’ main square was once again filled with life as members of Pécs Group 1 and Pécs Group 3 gladly joined the participants at the Run for Cancer Cure charity event. For the two groups, helping others and social responsibility have become a tradition, so this year there was no question about taking to the starting line together for a good cause.
The event, held on Széchenyi Square, was not just about running. Participants were welcomed by the colorful programs, demonstrations, and playful stations of the UP Blue Zone Health Day, which raised awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle, sports, and safety. Following the ceremonial opening and a joint warm-up, the field for the 2.6-kilometer run, jog, and walk distance kicked off at 11:00 AM.
The beneficiary of the event was the Péter Tölösi Foundation, which supports the care of children recovering at the Oncology Ward of the UP Department of Paediatrics. With every step, participants contributed to ensuring that the youngest heroes receive even more assistance and support during their recovery.
It is a point of particular pride for us that among the participants of the two Pécs groups, Péter Bencze, a member of Pécs Group 1, crossed the finish line first. Through his perseverance and dedication, he set an example for his peers, while all participants successfully completed the distance.
By the end of the day, everyone was enriched with a special experience. Sports, the power of community, and the desire to help demonstrated once again that together we can do a lot for others. We are proud that Pécs Group 1 and Pécs Group 3 were able to be part of this great initiative once more and contribute to the support of recovering children.”
