I became the “LittleBigAmbassador” of Baranya county
Unique in the world, the “Little Ambassador of Hungary” programme has been launched again this year for 10-12 year olds in every county of the country. Baranya joined the competition for the second time this year. In three rounds, the young people had to prove their knowledge of their town and the sights of their county. In the finals, the jury selected the best of the best to become the county’s Little Ambassador and four Little Ambassadors (in the culture, agriculture, sports and green categories). The first round was a Redmenta exercise where questions about Baranya County had to be answered. In the second round, I had to make a ppt showing the sights of my own county. I chose the castle of Siklós, the basilica of Pécs and the church of Véméndi. After that, I soon found out that I had to go through to the third round, where I had to write an introduction and a coherent story in 10 Swabian words, and several texts for the ppt. This round took place on Google meet. When the time came, we started the recording and the audition began. I was very nervous as there were people in front of me that I had never met before, but it is an important job of a small ambassador to be able to connect with strangers. The interview was over quickly and I was very complimented on my nice presentation of the sights. The very next day, I received the good news that I could go to the awards ceremony, which meant I had scored enough points in the final round. The award ceremony took place at the Pécs County Hall. We were very, very excited; me and my classmate, because we had never been to one before. The special prize winners were announced first, followed by the attachés. At the very end, I was left sitting alone when it was announced that I was this year’s “Little Ambassador”. I was so happy and I thought about how much work it was and I did it! I went home that day knowing that if I work hard, it always pays off.” Szilveszter Cseke, Group 1 Mohács
