Two awarded beneficiaries at the Rotary-Gala

Every year, the Rotary Club of Szentes-Csongrád announces a competition for talented youth in grades 9–11 who live and/or study in the two districts. In addition to the recognition, the winners of the competition receive financial support. This year, two supported members of the Szentes 1 group applied; among them, Vanda Horváth received a silver qualification for her chess achievements, and Fanni Lili Sebesi received a bronze qualification for her photography activities.

“I applied last year too, and back then I won a silver qualification. However, alongside the current bronze, I received several offers that mean I cannot be disappointed at all: first of all, they are organizing a joint exhibition of our work for me together with another photographer and a visual artist awardee. Secondly, I got an opportunity to try myself out as a photographer in another ‘field’, at a fashion show. This is a big challenge, but I am also very curious; it will be an interesting task! I would like to spend the prize I won primarily on upgrading my equipment. I owe my gratitude to the Csányi Foundation, as photography became my interest here as a child, and I have been practicing it here regularly ever since.”

“I wasn’t prepared for anything, I wasn’t planning out what kind of award I might receive today. So I got more and more excited when my name was not called among those receiving honorable mentions. Then they didn’t say it among the bronze winners either; by that point, my nerves were stretched to the limit. It is an immense happiness that I made it among the silver winners, and I want to spend the prize entirely on further developing my chess skills. For example, I go to a lot of competitions; about twenty to twenty-five times a year, one of my weekend days is spent like this. Plus, I am going to increase the number of my training sessions, which is also important. I thank my mentor for the recommendation written for the application, and the Csányi Foundation for helping me get this far. I will work solely on continuously improving in the future as well.”

Congratulations to the awarded girls, keep it up!
