On October 13, 2026, at the Déryné 6 Gallery of the Csányi Foundation, the exhibition “Hommage á Lívia Szabó, Remembering Hamza Studio” opened on the occasion of the Day of Hungarian Painting.
The guests were welcomed by dr. Miklós Radoszáv, Operational Director, followed by the professional opening speech by Edit Farkas, Director of the Hamza Museum. Finally, the event concluded with the beautiful singing of Emília Peták. The exhibition pays tribute to the memory of the artist Lívia Szabó, who passed away in 2023, while showing how her paintings continue to inspire her former fellow artists.
The members of the Hamza Studio each chose a special piece from Lívia Szabó’s oeuvre that evoked thoughts and feelings in them. Drawing inspiration from these, they created their own works, which, together with the original paintings, create a unique artistic dialogue between past and present.
As a founding member of the Hamza Studio, Lívia Szabó participated in numerous exhibitions and art programs. Her body of work on display at the exhibition ranges from study drawings to self-portraits, as well as oil and acrylic paintings. Her painting was often inspired by family photographs, from which she created a distinctive, surreal visual world. She created series of paintings on identical themes, such as “The Thinker”, “The Conversationalists”, and the “In Yellow” series.
The exhibition not only commemorates the artist but also demonstrates the power of community: her creations continue to spark new thoughts and works today, ensuring her artistic legacy lives on in the work of her fellow artists.
The exhibition is open until November 13.
