Night of the Museums in Kaposvár

On July 20, 2026, we participated in the Night of the Museums at the Rippl-Rónai Museum with the Kaposvár 3 group and our mentor, Máté Varga. We arrived at the museum at 5 p.m. and explored every part of it. We started with the hunting exhibition, which had two sections: an African and an European one. After viewing the exhibitions, a few of us also tried out a shooting simulation game. After a short break, Máté talked about the history of the building, and then we visited the archaeological exhibition, where we received a short guided tour from our mentor. In this same area, we saw the displays showcasing terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems, and then we visited the booth of the staff from the Somogy County Correctional Institution in the museum courtyard. This was followed by the opening ceremony of the event and a temporary exhibition, where, among other things, we could hear about the last Hungarian polymath, Ottó Herman. In one of the museum’s buildings—which used to operate as an archive—we saw the coats of arms of old noble families on stained glass windows. Here, we listened to Marcell Molnár’s presentation titled “To Save or Not to Save,” which was about bird rescuing and proved to be very useful. To close the evening, we listened to our mentor’s guided tour of the numismatic exhibition, which everyone really enjoyed. Overall, we participated in an informative and very interesting program.
