On June 6th, I held the presentation for my “Ready, Set, Drive!” (“Vigyázz, kész, vezess!”) application at the Kaposvár Community House. I chose modern driver assistance systems as my topic because I believe that alongside safe driving, knowing the vehicle we drive also plays a prominent role. Furthermore, as a result of the continuous development of car manufacturing, modern driver assistance systems are gaining more and more ground, and an increasing number of technical regulations mandate their availability.
After a few introductory questions, I explained what components such a system can consist of, what functions they perform, and what benefits they bring when a given vehicle is equipped with them. I also presented some specific systems, such as Adaptive Cruise Control, the emergency braking system, and the lane-following/lane-keeping system. The members of Group 3 listened actively and attentively as I explained how these work and shared my personal experiences with these functions. At the end of my presentation, we held an open brainstorming session on what advantages and disadvantages we recognize regarding self-driving cars, and where a world full of autonomous vehicles might lead.
We closed the program with a Kahoot! game I put together, where the children enthusiastically competed with each other, and all of them successfully overcame the obstacles posed by my trick questions.
