András Gál

In 2012, I graduated from the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Pécs with a degree in English and History, and I started working as a teacher in public education. As a third-generation educator in my family, I can say that raising the upcoming generations, continuously increasing knowledge, and passing it on are close to my heart. During my pedagogical work, I came to know students who made me receptive to working with the disadvantaged, and my goal is to unfold their talents.

I have taught in primary school, vocational secondary school, adult education, private school, and language schools. I gained a lot of experience, which I can utilize as a mentor at the Foundation, where I have also worked as a development teacher since 2014, and then continued my work as the mentor of the Pécs 2 group from 2019. In the same year, I earned a Master’s degree in Public Education Leader and Educator Professional Examination at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics; I am able to fulfill my organizational and communication skills through my work at the Foundation.

In addition, I have been the president of the Baranya Homeland Association since 2011, where I actively participate in community and tradition-preserving activities, and I view homeland studies as my calling. I consider patriotic education, intellectual and cultural enrichment, strengthening identity, and tradition-preserving as well as community-building activities to be important. In my opinion, these contribute to raising cheerful, open-minded young people who have a stable background. I consider myself fortunate because I was also able to successfully integrate this activity into the Foundation’s programs, so in 2023, together with several other organizations, we launched our competition and conference series in memory of Dr. László Buday, a statistician from Pécs who happened to be born in the Pécs Community House. Furthermore, in memory of Zsigmond Teleki, a viticulturist and winemaker from Villány, we have also commemorated him every year since 2024 with a competition and conference.

The year 2025 brought a major change in my life, as I left my beloved city, Pécs, and started a family in Jászárokszállás, but I did not have to give up my mentoring work, as I was able to take over my wife’s place in Jászberény and became the mentor of the Jászság 4 group.

During my years spent at the Csányi Foundation so far, I have been to countless places, participated in plenty of programs, and many experiences tie me here. What I am most proud of: the success of my mentored students, but I would also highlight that I have been able to serve as the leader of our camp organized jointly with Transylvanian colleagues and children in Csíksomlyó since 2021, I was able to lead our Chess team at the Dubai Expo in 2021, and I was able to assist the Jász-Stones Lego robotics team in Sydney in 2024 and in Cape Town in 2025.
