A journey to the realm of music

On Friday 1 December, we finally passed our first ever English test. A great weight had been lifted off our hearts and we spent the whole evening, night and Saturday together to celebrate. We slept inside in the community centre, but before that – for those who felt like it – we went to the Advent Fair in town. The lights made Kossuth Square very cosy, and some people even tried their hand at dodgems. It wasn’t without a few bumps… In the evening, we had dinner and a board game party started for some of the group, and those who felt like it watched a film on the big screen. We had fun and didn’t fall asleep for a long time because of the excitement of the whole week. The next day we had a hard time getting up, but we had to, because we had to take the 8:30 train to Kecskemét. We had breakfast and cleaned up after ourselves. When we arrived at the Leskowsky Instrument Collection in the morning, we were very surprised to find more than 1500 instruments! The session started right away and the manager of the collection gave us a super interesting demonstration and we got to try out a lot of different instruments! She was also very curious about us, because the last time she had the chance to meet us she had only met the children from the III All-Art Camp who had already been to the Leskowsky Instrument Collection. He came to give the session, even though he arrived home from England at 3:00 in the morning. We also said that we didn’t sleep much because we had just finished our English exam and stayed up late afterwards. We were introduced to a lot of musical instruments that we didn’t even know existed. For example, the aquaphone or the shamisan. The latter was a bit creepy, because we learned that it was made from cat skin, ivory and caterpillar silk. But there are also saws that you can play with. We think it was an exceptional day and very useful, on the way home Uncle Sanya asked us if we would like to come again: everyone said yes!
