On the mountain of Tokaj

Today we have started the language camp which also deals with the history of our country. The children had been looking forward to seeing each other, since they hadn’t met for a long time.

The Kaposvár and Jászság group arrived at the camp at  the foothills of Tokaj  after a long journey. Our camp is situated where our two rivers, the river Tisza and Bodrog meet. The aim of our camp is to improve our language skills and learn about the sights of its neighbourhood.

2nd day

This morning (14/07) we took part in English or German lessons in which we had various playful tasks. At the end of the lessons we had an ineresting quiz with questions about the knowledge that we acquired. After lunch we had a horse carriage trip with Mr Radoszáv. Some of us also took the chance to ride „Szellő” During the trip we heard a lot of interesting details about the mountain and horses.

Among other things, we learnt that white horses don’t exist, we hade a glimpse at the most beautiful vineyard of 2012 which enjoys the warm sunshine from sunrise to sunset. During the night the rocks of the hill reflects the heat thus the temperature is stable  which makes the „Tokaji Aszú” a unique wine.

3rd day

Our third day started similarly to the previous ones, then a great adventure awaited for us after the lessons. We set off on a canoe trip. We were really excited as we had never sat in a canoe before. We enjoyed the 11kilometre trip on the river Bodrog. We had a memorable afternoon. In the evening some of us played football and the others went for playing volleyball.

The playful language lessons continued. We had a great time and learnt a lot from our teachers. After lunch we visited the hydro plant in Tiszalök. We learnt that they have been pruducing electricity there for 50 years. We were told a lot about the history and working methods in the plant. Our programme in the afternoon was a cruise on the river Tisza. We broadened our minds with plenty of useful information abot the fauna of the river. We enjoyed this day, too.

Today, after breakfast we headed for Széphalom, to the Museum of the Hungarian Language. We took part in an interactive game, which taught us about the development of the Hungarian language and its neology. We had the opprtunity to listen to original Ungur, Finnish, Lapp and old Hungarian tapescripts. After that we visited the memorial gallery and tomb of Ferenc Kazinczy. The next sight to see was the Rákóczi Castle in Sárospatak, where we discovered the Red Tower from the cellar to its terrace which is the exhibition place of cannons. Then we were guided to the newly-opened cannon foundry. After breakfast we were shown the Exhibition of School History and the Library in the Calvinistic College. In the afternoon we enjoyed an amazing bobsled programme in the Zemplén mountain.
