Photography Workshop 2026/3

The third and final nature photography workshop of this year has arrived, which was organized between June 12 and 14, 2026. The season-closing event was a particular joy for us, as this time, besides our Szeged team, we could also host our fellow photographers from Nagybajom, Pécs, and Mohács.

Immediately after arrival, we threw ourselves into the thick of it: we visited the river section at the Algyő Tisza Bridge. Our goal was none other than to catch the stunning blooming of the Tisza (mayfly swarming), which had been going on for days. Although luck plays a major role in nature photography, the main swarming had unfortunately taken place in the previous days, so we were not successful on this evening. However, there was absolutely no reason for disappointment: over a pleasant dinner together, we discussed what we had seen and thoroughly prepared for the next day’s more serious field tasks.

We started Saturday morning already equipped with cameras and carefully prepared field gear. First, we headed to the banks of the Maty-ér, which we had already gotten to know well and come to love over the past weeks. Our well-proven macro location did not disappoint this time either: in the morning light, we managed to capture spiders, wildflowers, and butterfly species.

From there, we traveled on to the Mórahalom Buffalo Reserve. Although the landscape was a bit saddening—as the first signs of water shortage were already visible in the water level of the lake—the birdlife still filled the area with life. It was a tremendous experience to observe and photograph mallards and black-winged stilts protectively leading their chicks, as well as black-winged stilts and pied avocets sitting determinedly on their nests.

After the substantial morning, we settled down at the Ásotthalom Miracle Meadow. True to its name, the meadow is one of the favorite locations for nature photographers; the species-rich vegetation offered countless new photography subjects for the team, who enthusiastically dived further into exploring the macro world.

We closed the sunset at the Atka Oxbow Lake in the usual workshop atmosphere. Here, everyone created at their own pace and liking: one half of the company photographed the birdlife, while the others spent the evening with peaceful fishing and enjoying the sunset.

True to Szeged traditions, we spent our late-night closing dinner at the Szeged Fehértó Fishermen’s Inn, where we wrapped up the weekend over Szeged fish soup and kettle goulash.

This season-closing workshop put a worthy exclamation point at the end of this year’s series. The community of photographers from Nagybajom, Pécs, Mohács, Szentes, Jászság, and Szeged can look back on three extremely good-humored, productive, and experience-filled weekends. Although this year’s workshops have come to an end, the acquired knowledge, the friendships, and our photos tucked away on the memory cards will stay with us for a long time. With the end of the workshops, we are enthusiastically preparing for the newer photography adventures of the Baks camp and the all-arts camp.
