The nature photography section of the All-Arts Camp has another unforgettable weekend behind it.
This time, we set off with an even larger team; alongside the budding photographers from Szentes and Szeged, our nature photographers from Jászság also joined us. Compared to our previous, rather bleak and rainy workshop, we were now accompanied by true, unadulterated summer weather: the abundant sunshine and warmth provided the perfect foundation for field work.
We started the weekend near Szeged, on the shores of Maty-rill:. The light of the early hours was ideal for practicing macro techniques. The waterfront flora and fauna instantly enchanted the team: participants were able to capture field larkspurs, poppies, and insects awakening among the blades of grass in beautiful compositions. The highly productive photo session was followed by a short, well-deserved breakfast on the shore, allowing us to continue our journey with renewed energy.
During the morning, we returned to one of the most successful locations of the previous workshop, the Mórahalmi Buffalo Reserve. While last time we could admire the adult birds, this time, alongside the black-winged stilts, we also managed to capture their tiny, downy chicks. Photographing the precocial chicks and the bickering adult birds required immense patience, but it was a huge experience and provided unparalleled shots for the children.
After a hearty lunch, we spent the second half of the day at the Atka oxbow lake (Atkai-holtág). Here, the focus was on observing the oxbow’s rich birdlife and documenting the surrounding plant and insect life. At this location, we called upon a truly special, creative method: the reverse lens technique. With the help of the reversed lenses, an extremely close, detail-rich world opened up to the photographers, placing the depiction of tiny living creatures into a completely new dimension.
True to our traditions so far, fishing could not be missed at the oxbow either, resulting in our companion, Balázs Gila, managing to catch an asp with spin fishing at sunset.
The joint weekend of the photographers from Jászság, Szentes, and Szeged in the perfect summer weather was not only outstanding professionally due to the many techniques learned, but it also brought the team together brilliantly. Beautiful landscapes, rare moments, and a fantastic atmosphere – the nature photography section moves forward into the summer with plenty of new, wonderful frames.
