Particularly rich programs took place within the framework of the Foundation over the weekend (March 13-14). Participants were able to demonstrate their knowledge in several areas, while family members also gained insight into daily work and community life.
On Friday, internal oral language exams took place. Members of the Pécs 1 and Pécs 3 groups arrived well-prepared, and the progress made in the recent period was clearly visible in every participant. During the exams, they not only proved their acquired knowledge but also showed significant development in their confidence and communication skills.
During the professional sessions, different groups deepened their knowledge in various fields. On Friday, the Pécs 1 group focused on robotics programming, where participants learned about the basics of how the technology works as well as its practical applications. Meanwhile, the Pécs 3 group expanded their IT knowledge, acquiring new skills to navigate the digital world.
The highlight of the weekend was the Open Day held at the Community House in Pécs on Friday and Saturday. Family members of the beneficiaries were able to get a closer look at the Foundation’s operations, programs, and daily life. Family members gained insight into the community and professional work that supports the development of young people.
The central theme of the day was nature conservation, to which several presentations and interactive sessions were linked.
“The main theme of today was nature conservation. I gave the first presentation on safe transport and the basic rules of the road (KRESZ), which is relevant to the children’s daily lives since everyone is a participant in traffic, whether as a pedestrian, cyclist, or motorist. I spoke about my studies, specifically about nature conservation in general and how, for example, the selection of a landfill site works in practice. The second presentation was given by Benjámin Tomity, who works in wildlife management; we received detailed and interesting information about this with many real-life examples. Following the mid-morning snack, under the instructions of Ms. Andi, the children created posters on the theme of nature conservation within the framework of a critical thinking session. “Today, within the framework of an exciting session, I was asked to present on my profession, which is the professional hunting vocation. My presentation covered my path of commitment to the profession, as well as a current event related to nature conservation: woodcock monitoring. I introduced the Eurasian woodcock, its hunting, and observations related to its protection. During the presentation, participants could hold a hunting weapon, its ammunition, and a specimen of the target species. At the end, many questions were asked, and we even discussed topics beyond the main theme. The programs once again proved that learning is most effective when paired with experiences, practical examples, and collective thinking. Participants not only gained new knowledge but also became active parts of an inspiring community experience.
It is of paramount importance to the Foundation to support the development of young people through diverse programs, professional experiences, and community events – and these recent events were excellent examples of this.
