Roland Szabó

My name is Roland Szabó, and I was born in 1979. I completed primary school in Nagybajom and secondary school in Kaposvár. My university years followed, and I graduated with degrees in Painter and Visual Arts Teacher from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in Budapest. I worked as a graphic designer in Budapest, and then, after 11 years away, I managed to move back to my hometown. I am married; my wife, Anett, is an English teacher. We have a young son, Előd.

I am a Calvinist, and I consider the role of the church in youth education to be a cornerstone.

At the beginning of my university years, together with a few friends, we founded the Youth Club of Nagybajom, which has been operating uninterrupted ever since and has grown into an Alternative Cultural Association.

The László Tibol Creative Camp operated in Nagybajom from 2003 to 2007, where I taught painting and freehand drawing to high school students.

I consider working with young people important, as the effort invested in them is long-term planning. I also find it essential for young people to experience meaningful days full of experiences, because these experiences are stored away and resurface later in the form of a thought or a fond memory.

I believe that education must be honest and open. If a person has the ability, talent, and opportunity to do something to make things better for the next generation, then they must do their part.

In the Foundation, I have a small group consisting of seventh-graders and a large group consisting of university students.

In 2022, I earned a degree as a Specialist Educator and Public Education Leader at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
