Henriett Rang

I graduated from the Tolnai Lajos Bilingual Secondary School in Gyönk, where I obtained an advanced level language certificate alongside my high school diploma. In 1993, I passed a specialized matriculation exam at the Studienkolleg in Munich, and then continued my studies as a student at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, majoring in Modern History and Political Science. During the nearly a decade spent in Germany, I was able to experience firsthand the mindset of a Western society, as well as its differing approach to social challenges—a perspective that remained defining for me later on.

Following my return home, my interest turned increasingly towards children and young people. In 2020, I completed the catechist training at the Episcopal Theological College of Pécs, and subsequently taught religious education in German at the Koch Valéria School Center, as well as at the Pécs EGYMI and the UP Deák Ferenc Second Practicing School. During my pedagogical work, it was reinforced in me that good performance and development are not only about learning: a supportive community, a motivating environment, and the presence of a mentor or educator who believes in the child are at least as important.

I am an active member of the German community, and passing on cultural values is also a cause close to my heart: I support the work of the “Association for German Children in Hungary” with German-language cultural programs and by organizing thematic summer camps. I believe that the potential lies within everyone, which can be brought to the surface with the right support and attention.

My husband and I are raising four children, which reinforces in me every day how crucial a stable background, attentiveness, and encouragement truly are.

In 2025, I had the opportunity to join the Foundation and became the mentor of the Pécs 2 group. I accompany the development of a fifth-grade beginner group and a group of university students, supporting them in their daily lives, studies, and on the path towards their goals. It is an honor for me to be part of the Foundation’s work as a mentor and to help shape the guidance program of the children entrusted to me.
