In the mood for Easter

With Easter approaching, Group 1 from Szentes spent their project day on 18 March, but once again we also focused on health.

The girls first learned about the functions of the abdominal organs and the connective tissues of the lower abdomen and how to protect them from Aranka Repa Kriston, a Kriston trainer, in an age-appropriate health education session. The session also included some practical gymnastic exercises to help them overcome their difficulties.

In the IT room, the boys set out to find out more about Easter, working in pairs to gather as much and as interesting information as possible about the holiday. In addition to the historical background, they also looked at the meaning and significance of the foods and symbols that are found on this holiday. This was followed by presentations on “The Origins of Easter” and “Our Easter Traditions”, and an insightful extension of knowledge on “Is there an Easter on Easter Island?”. There were not only presentations, but also educational and awareness-raising posters, which provide a short, concise overview of the topics for all visitors.

The girls’ programme was egg painting: after preparing the raw material, they learned about traditional decoration techniques and motifs and their symbolic meaning. However, we opted for a more modern technique, colouring our eggs with tempera lacquer. When the teams had finished the task assigned to them, we gathered in one of the halls and listened with curiosity to the boys’ Easter presentations. The tasks required constant concentration and accuracy from all the children throughout the day, so our group went home at the end of the day a little tired, but happy and with new knowledge. -Sándor Kovács mentor, Szentes 1.
