ANALYTICAL, CREATIVE, COLLABORATIVE, IMPLEMENTER?

On the 11th of April, the youth and parents of Szeged Group 3 gathered together to participate in this year’s first Parents’ Academy. Our guests came from the Bonafarm group of companies in Pécs, who gave a very exciting and interactive presentation and discussion on career awareness. Last year we focused on career orientation for school choice, and this year we looked at the jobs available in each sector and the qualifications required to fill each position. There is a wide range of options for those who are considering such a career.

The students helped me with the preparations, so we set the table with freshly baked chocolate treats and sandwiches.

Participants were taken to an interface where they could answer pre-conceived questions, the results of which immediately appeared on the projected interface. We guessed how many employees work for the Bonafarm Group, which sectors they work in and what they associate with the word “career choice”. We then watched the Bonafarm image film, which shows the specific areas and phases of work.

The trainers then divided the group into two parts, with parents talking separately about what a supportive attitude is when young people are in a decision-making situation. At the end, a list of behaviours to follow and avoid was drawn up. In the meantime, the youth filled in a questionnaire on Dutch interests, which showed whether they belonged to the categories of analytical, creative, community, organizing or implementing. The different interests give different related career paths to think about for the future.

We are very grateful to Judit and Simonetta for the tailor-made and methodologically excellent programme.
