We visited the Ötös-Hárs Reservoir

Good weather has finally arrived in the Nagybajom area along with the spring break.

We set out yesterday and, with the help of our older members, showed the youngest ones in person how rich the wildlife is around the Ötös-Hárs Reservoir.

First, we headed towards the still-blooming black pasqueflowers. Since they prefer semi-dry grasslands, sandy soil, and warm southern slopes, they can fortunately still be seen in our region. They are a protected natural treasure: their conservation value is 10,000 HUF.

Following this, we viewed a pilot project dealing with the issue of water retention. On the banks of the Boronka stream, we examined the brownish compounds leaching from the bog iron.

Our path took us past nest box colonies, and we scouted the openings of an incredibly sized badger sett.

At the end of the session, we arrived back at our Community House and discussed our experiences over a substantial cold lunch.
