Game on – autumn athletic season

After a short summer break I started training not so long ago. I have already known that I am going to do something new and I hoped that I can reach my goals.

Preparation started in August for all athletics competition. Trainings were bitter sweet as I always learned something new which I wanted to show at the competition. The 2nd Szekszárd Athletic Festival was organised on 6-7 September which is preparatory competition for all athletics. I could show my ability in seven events, and so far I participated in only two out of the seven events. The first day were my own sport events, men’s 100 metre and long-jump, I also entered in men’s 400 metre and shot-put. The 400 metres run was surprisingly easy and I enjoyed running. It is rumoured that this event is overstraining and bad but I think in a different way. Obviously, I got tired after the race but it is normal.

The second day I had to face with my greatest fear, the men’s 110 metres hurdles. I was awfully stressed that I miscalculate the steps or any other problem appear during the event. But I succeeded! I always believed that it is an easy sport event but now I can understand experienced hurdlers that it is difficult and tiring. My personal record in high jump made me happy although I know it is far from the front rank but I know, I did my best. The last event was javelin throw. All athletics sportspeople have only three tries instead of the usual six, it made me scared a bit. My first two tries were invalid. I had to concentrate and pay attention to every little detail for the third try and thanks to the numerous hours of practice I could do it. My moves were good and I could set up a personal record. But the best was that my coach acknowledged my efforts. I really enjoyed these two days! I am looking forward the next rounds. I hope I will have good result at the autumn season as well.

My results:

  • Men’s 100 metres: 11.96 s
  • Long jump: 600 cm
  • Shot put: 10.52 m
  • Men’s 400 metres: 56.56
  • 110 metres hurdles: 17.17 s
  • High jump: 160 cm
  • Javelin throw: 41.90 m
