István Bugyi
Volunteer Providing Outstanding Support for the Implementation of the Guidance Program
He has been supporting the Foundation’s daily operations with his work since 2006; there is hardly an event in which he does not actively participate or attend, whether it involves decorating, chaperoning, or transporting the children.
He helped as an expert in the project work taking place at the House; in the KERT and AMÖR projects, he taught and guided the young people with his expertise. As the volunteer developing the automated raised-bed irrigation system, he helped construct the raised beds, create the AMÖR model, and develop the children’s knowledge in this field. Following this, in the summer of 2023, he built the system together with the students into the actual raised beds: because of this, he visited the House almost daily during the 2022/23 academic year, and since then, he continuously supervises and checks the system to ensure everything functions properly. He also participated in processing pallets and making outdoor furniture.
Thanks in part to volunteer István Bugyi, AMÖR received the Best Innovation award in 2023 at the Budapest regional finals of the First Lego League competition, and achieved 2nd place at the National Secondary School Student Project Competition.
The students also gladly work with “Pista bá,” as he is patient with them. With his work, attitude, and knowledge over the past twenty years, he has set an example for the youth.
