Zsögödfürdő
After a long journey yesterday, the foreign language camp has started in Zsögödfürdő today. Children arrived in the morning and then we got to know each other a bit better with the help of some wonderful team building activities. After lunch, the children got separated into groups according to their language knowledge levels. The groups found names for themselves and also made a special logo. We spent the afternoon with some quizes, puzzles and story-telling in English. After our delicious dinner we had a fantastic dancing time with traditional folk dances. Before we went to bed, we had a card game party and some talking time.
Learning is fun!
On the second day of the camp we had to get up early, and after we stretched our joints and had delicious breakfast the English lessons started. Among the topics we learned about the Royal Family of England, seasons, clothing and the body parts. After we had lunch, we celebrated one of our member’s birthday with some cookies. Fortunately we had some nappy-time to revise the vocabulary what we learned in the morning. The fun part of the day had started: we made some tasty banana ice cream together (which we could also eat later). We also had a „Do It Yourself” part today, where we could paint glasses, made bracelets and some very cool other stuff what we can switch with each other and take home as a reminder of this camp. In the evening we watched an exciting Jim Carrey-comedy which not only was amusing but also educational.
It’s cooking time!
The third day of the camp was very exciting and full of experiences. After our stretching and eating the children made easy and funny exercises in English, and then the best part of the day has come: we travelled to the Wellness Centre of Tusnádfürdő by bus. During the two hours at the spa we tried everything: the pools, sauna, salt-chamber and the pool outside too, even if there was pouring rain. Early in the afternoon we arrived back to our camp and due to the fact that we were extremely tired we had a peaceful rest in our bedrooms. Of course we also had English lessons today, the groups continued on their projects. In the evening we had another surprise: we went to Csíkszereda, to a local handcrafts man who showed us techniques, how to make mini statues and bowls from clay. After dinner we went to bed quite early because we were worn out but the day was full of excitement too.
On the forth day of our camp (13th July) we returned to our usual schedule: after breakfast we had our English lessons. All the groups were very enthusiastic: they went on their projects and widened their vocabulary. We also found time to work on our pronunciation too. After lunch, during nap we revised everything we have learnt today and then we made a really delicious cake. In the afternoon competed with each other by doing team building activities. Everybody enjoyed it. After having dinner the weather was so good that we decided to go out to play football, board games, badminton. This wonderful day was closed by a movie called “Home”. It was not only funny but also catching. The junior-mentor had the pleasure to visit the local beer factory – many thanks for that!
The fifth day of our camp (14th of July, 2017) started with the regular schedule: we had English lessons, where we went on with our projects and in the afternoon we travelled to Csíkszereda. The children were separated into groups and they had to do a city tour as a tourist: they had to collect useful information about some sights with the help of the mentors. They solved this exercise correctly so they not only got a city map but also got some scones of ice-cream. After dinner, the students had to do an English test, where the most important spellings and grammatical structures were involved. In the evening, we held a camp fire, where we could sing songs and had a chatty-time. Today was also a very enjoyable experience to all of us.
Though it was Saturday we learnt and learnt and learnt. As this day was our last day of learning we revised the vocabulary and every bits and pieces studied this week. In the afternoon we made our cake and did the last touch on our cook book. As the weather was pleasing we played football, run a lot and had fun. In the evening our mentors surprised us with a performance and with some presents. That was a lovely day, thank you for it.
On the 16th of July our camp has unfortunately ended. Today was a very emotional day, because on one hand, it was quite sad to leave the others here but on the one hand it was also very beautiful because we had the chance to remember to all the fantastic time we spent together. The English language had not the leading role but the board games, card games and other games got it. We all feel that this week was unforgettable, because of numerous experiences we had. The last day is always the hardest for us, because we must leave all the gorgeous memories behind, however we will have these to remember. On the other hand we are happy inside, because we can meet here next year.
Finally, we would like to say thank you to Mr. Zoltán Elekes, Mr. Miklós Csató and to Csányi Foundation, which allowed us to stay here and supporting our tradition.
