Pumpkin, Fun, Fonyód
As part of the Balaton project, Group 1 from Kaposvár participated in two activities this week. On Thursday, Péter Kántor held a reading comprehension class about Balaton-related myths and legends. The children read several stories connected to the lake, then selected one to turn into a film. Later, they will create an animated movie based on these stories at the Digital Knowledge Center.
On Saturday, we set out for Fonyód, where we had a truly “pumpkin-tastic” day, as everything at the lakeside town’s event revolved around pumpkins. Of course, we also took a stroll along the shore of Lake Balaton, capturing numerous photos and videos that we will use in the next stages of our project.
“We had a really great day together in Fonyód. We set off in perfect weather towards the Balaton, where we first walked out onto the pier, offering a breathtaking view of the lake. We took many photos and videos of the water and the Badacsony mountain, and we also admired the new Balaton boat, Tomaj, which looked stunning from the outside. Afterward, we headed to the pumpkin festival, where we saw some incredible pumpkins—there were spooky pumpkins, skull-shaped pumpkins, discoball pumpkins—giving us plenty of inspiration for our upcoming Halloween party. We also saw lots of pumpkin-themed products, and there was even pumpkin pizza, though we didn’t try that. The atmosphere was fantastic, and it was fun to dive into the bustling Fonyód crowd. We also admired the artwork in the creatively painted Fonyód underpass, which was done years ago. Finally, we had a bit of time to return to the lakeside.” — Olivér Jakab, Group 1 from Kaposvár
