Science Student Symposium in Jászberény

Science Student Symposium in Jászberény

In 1998, together with two of my students (Tamás Vidra and Norbert Kovács, who are still environmentalists today), I founded the Élővíz Environmental Protection Association at the Lehel Vezér High School in Jászberény. The following year, in 1999, we launched the first Science Student Symposium, which is still providing an opportunity for elementary and high school students to present their research work. Students from various schools across the country can present their individual or group activities before a professional jury in a 10-minute presentation. The jury does not assign first, second, or third place but awards various prizes (such as Best Practical Work, Most Relevant Topic, etc.). The rich history of the 25 years, the large number of applicants, and the returning student speakers each year prove that it is no coincidence that the Student Symposium has lasted for 25 years.

The 25th Science Student Symposium took place on November 8, 2024, where Nóra Pintér (Jászság Group 3) won the “Most Important Local Relevance” award for her presentation of the Zagyva Project. Congratulations to Nóri for her well-structured and well-delivered presentation!
