Strudel making
Following the traditions, on March 28 we cooked homemade strudel along with Valerie (German volunteer)
In this region the holidays and all the saints day is unimaginable without making home-made pies/strudel filled with a variety of fillings. Despite the fact that the kids are from different places in the area, many of them haven’t seen how it is made. We received great help from Ujváriné Marika , who finally kneaded the strudel in a professional manner. Valerie assisted with joy, knead , filled and then wrapped the piece of cakes. Today, many variations have been made with cottage cheese , poppy seed , apple , cabbage and cherry. And finally we tried out the community house’s oven , which is baked five portion in minutes.
I hope that far from our daily routine, the participating students , foreign volunteers , and mentors enjoyed themselves and they had the opportunity to know something from Hungarian gastronomy and culture!
