# Project kick-off weekend in Kaposvár

On October 3, 2026, at the Kaposvár Community House, we first had a mentoring session. With Máté, we discussed upcoming sessions, trips, and application opportunities, as well as the key tasks for the coming semester. After that, we watched a 20-minute animated film—produced by the Autentika Art Workshop Foundation—about the Battle of Mohács in 1526, and talked about it. We looked at how the excavated mass graves looked and look today, since a vast number of soldiers and other people who were executed during or after the battle were buried there. Following a short break, we resumed the session. The next topic we covered was medieval and early modern castles in Somogy County, which will also be part of our new project, as there were over 100 castles in Somogy County excluding prehistoric ones, and we want to focus on the former and explore them through hikes. I think we are embarking on a very exciting project. In addition, we watched drone footage that also assists modern research, and there are other methods as well that we will report on later. Then we had lunch and rested, after which the boys moved the rock garden stones in the yard to a new location, while we girls gathered ideas on how to plant them with greenery.
