Ildikó Nagy

I am the mentor of the 3rd Jászság group. I went to secondary school where I live in Jászberény, to Lehel Vezér Secondary Grammar School. I graduated from Eszterházy Károly Teacher Training College as a drawing teacher in 1998. In 1999 I received a degree here in Cultural Management, Motion Picture Culture and Video Transmission. For four years I worked as a drawing-visual communications teacher at Apponyi Albert Elementary School and Elementary Art School in Jászberény, trying to introduce the mystical world of arts to the children.

From 2004 I held an extracurricular crafts class for talented children from the Jászság region, at the Déryné Cultural Centre in Jászberény – I organised crafts camps with the aim of developing the children’s creativity and manual skills, and helping them approach the world with an open mind. I am a founding member of the Hamza Studio in Jászberény, which brings together young artists from the fields of visual and applied arts from the Jászság region. Our goal is to create lasting, high quality works of art, and to promote contemporary art.

From March 2006 I worked in the 1st Jászság group of the Csányi Foundation, as a mentor and crafts teacher. I have been in charge of the 3rd Jászság group since 2009. The kids here have a wonderful community, and it is a pleasure to work with them. We are in daily contact – in addition to the development classes we also meet at the leisure programmes, cultural events and camps we organise for them. It is so nice to see how they develop over the years, as small children grow into adolescents and then adults. This job is a great challenge – our task is to nurture and cultivate their talent, while taking their living conditions into consideration, to help them find a life path that suits them.
