International Chess Competition
It was the second time I took part in Bárcza Gedeon International Juvenile Team Memorial Competition. It was taking palce in Berekfürdő from 29th September till 1st October.
I had been looking forward to this championship since the end of summer and I was really excited about meeting those friends whom I met there last year. It turned out on the first day, that I know a lot of them from Poland, Russia and Slovakia, it was lovely recognisig the familiar faces.
After the opening ceremony on Saturday afternoon we already played the first chess game which was a kind of brain storming activity for me and it ended with a draw. On the other hand, the next day brought me luck and I not only won the morning but the afternoon game, so by the end of the day I gained 2,5 points from the maximum 3 points.
Monday was a quite miserable day for me as the Russian team defeated me, but I think it was not a big surprise as they were the absolute winners of the whole championship. On Tuesday there were two other games which ended with a draw.
All in all, our team finished on the 9th place, which is quite good according to international results. Of course not all the games were this serious, as the evening games played with the friends were spent in a good mood and I gained a lot of experience. I hope I will be there next year again!
The VII. Jász Cup Chess Competition was organised in Jászberény on 5th and 6th October, where I was a member of the jury. Unfortunately I couldn’t be a competitor because of my age. I was in charge of the games of the 3rd group, where I had to check the observance of the regularity and the exact length of the game. Besides this, I had to register the results as well. On the 14th of October there will be another competition, which will be a very important one as we will compete with the team of Újszász in frame of the National Championship.
