National Competition
The day has finally arrived: the day of the Albert Wass National poetry and prose recitation contest. I was really waiting for it, especially beacuse 2 years ago I also participated in this competition and I enjoyed it. I really liked the idea that all of us, participants, got a postcard from one of the students of Bethlen Secondary School. They wrote some nice words encouraging us and they also gave us their addresses so we could keep in touch, if we want. My postcard was sent by a really nice and friendly girl, we have been keeping in touch since then. After 2 years we could finally meet as well. I took her some traditional, hand-crafted presents from my home-town, she was really happy with them. We had some really nice time together and she also came to the competition with me. The competition was really well-organized. As a participant I read a selection of Albert Wass’ proses, the jury liked it very much. They appreciated the difficulty of my texts and they said that I had made a perfect performance. Teachers, the director and even the pastor congratulated me. To cut a long story short, I won the competition. I would like to thank my mentor and the Foundation for their work, their support and for the opportunity to compete and I would also thank them for believing in me.
