I was at a national farmers’ competition
“The III National Farmers’ Competition of Agricultural Institutes was held in the framework of the Livestock Breeding and Agriculture Days of Alföld held in Hódmezővásárhely. Two of my classmates and I applied for this competition in October and had to solve tasks related to our profession in several rounds. To our great joy, our results earned us the right to take part in the national final, where we competed against 10 other teams. After the opening ceremony, the competition started, which consisted of two parts. In the first part, we had to solve a 50-question problem sheet, which fortunately was not difficult, and we felt that we had done well and hoped for a similar continuation. The second part of the competition consisted of practical tasks where we had to demonstrate our knowledge of plant identification, agricultural concepts, whipping, forage testing and livestock characteristics. These tasks were also well done and we were excited to see the results announced. I couldn’t wait to find out the results of our team. They started at the back to announce the placings and after each one we were more and more happy that they hadn’t announced the name of our school yet. Finally it turned out that we had come 2nd and even won the Special Prize. For me, it was an unspeakably enjoyable competition, I loved every minute of it, as we had to show off our skills. I think the result shows that I am on the right track and in the right place.” Szebasztián Benczenleitner, Mohács Group 1
