We Participated in a Folk Music Qualification with the Margaréta Zither Ensemble

On December 7, 2024, Saturday, we participated in the 24th Túri Meeting of Children’s and Youth Zither Ensembles and Soloists, the KÓTA Golden Oriole Folk Music Qualification event, held in Mezőtúr. Representing the Margaréta Zither Ensemble, we are students of Kornélia Németh, a teacher at the Lajtha László Primary Art School in Szentes.

We prepared for the event with great excitement, and the years of hard work and countless hours of practice bore fruit! At the national qualification, the Margaréta Zither Ensemble from Szentes was awarded the prestigious Golden Peafowl Prize.

The jury members included:

  • Dr. Erzsébet Lengyel, KÓTA-awarded music educator, conductor, and president of KÓTA’s county organization,
  • Ágota Hajdú, KÓTA-awarded folk music teacher, ethnographer, and expert in the methodology of children’s folk music education, and
  • József Birinyi, instrumental performer awarded the Golden Cross of Merit of the Republic of Hungary, folk music researcher, and KÓTA’s co-chair responsible for folk music, who served as the jury’s president.
