Excursion diary
In the previous years we mostly focused on to learn about the natural heritage of Somogy County during our two-day trips.
Getting to know the animal and plant species of Inner-Somogy the central topic of our trip were to learn about herbs and their use, sustainable development and the treasures of the forests. This school year, our mentor planned the excursion to the Zselic Conservation Area near Kaposvár. This trip might be the last trip of this kind as we are preparing for the school leaving exams, so it was an unusual trip for all of us. Our parents helped us to start the trip early and we arrived by cars to Bőszénfa to the cattle farm under the provision of Kaposvár University. Our host was Daniné Udvardy Tünde who showed us around and shared many interesting facts at the hunting trophy collection room. Finally, we clarified what antler and horn are, why they have brown colour and wood grain and now we know how much they can cost. As we stepped out, the sun came out and we stroll to our accommodation to Ökoturiszt Centrum while we were gazing the beautiful landscape. The walk took four hours, we were tired as we got there but the nice dinner made it up to us. After dinner our mentor surprised us with a photo montage that showed captions of our previous trips, excursions and developmental lessons. We were laughing and crying at the same time during the night long chat evening.
Sunday morning after breakfast we met the director and sales director of the Ökoturisztikai Centrum. We were not pleased to listen another presentation but the personality of Hábetler András made us curious and it soon turned out the topic he was about to talk about was in the centre of our attention and interest. He talked about what kind of professionals keep the centrum work, what we need to learn and study for this and what those areas are, which we cannot learn in the school. He also shared his personal experiences he gathered throughout his life. It was interesting to hear the life story of a person who has seen and experienced so much. At the end we realised it was not a presentation but a friendly talk. Of course we did not miss the football derby and we also had a little time for a nice walk. The lunch was also surprise for us, cauldron made stew that we could consume at the neatly laid tables on the balcony. Our group usually takes place in the autumn excursion this time of the year. This one was really special and really unique. It was perfect for us, members of group 2 of Kaposvár of the Csányi Foundation. It was great and we are pleased and grateful for it.
