Visited Jasz Museum
Today we visited the Jasz Museum, where we had opportunity to take part in Edit Hortiné dr. Bathó, local ethnographer’s presentation, which can help us to understand how worked the hospitality in the Jász region.
The museum director had been working for long ages until she could collect as much information as we can see now, about the local hotels, restaurants and bars. Not only about the buildings and their funtions but also she found interesting datas about events that were hold in these places.
One of the most interesting information for us was that our community house was used as a hotel, which was called Jászkürt Fogadó. This historical house was built in 1731 by stone and pise and contained a barn, remise and a stone fence too. Its garden might have reached the river bank. In this hotel not only the exhausted travellers could recharge themself, but also those people who came here to the Jászkun committee meeting.
Moreover we heard about the prices of the place too, and we found it quite interesting. In the 1830s a dinner cost 35 korona (old hungarian money) or a cup of black caffee cost 15 korona. Since 1895, it had been used as a Police Office, Museum, Post Office, Additional Military Command, and even as a House of Parties. And now, we have opportunity to use this wonderful, historical building as our community house..
During this evening, we got lot of information about our city that can help us to understand the old times and love our beautiful town. We hope that we can take part in the next educational night of the Jász Museum. Thank you for this experience!
