Surprise English lesson
Now, that we’re in our last year of secondary school, there isn’t a single day we don’t think about the Matura Examination. We’re revising in every lesson and in our free time. On the Foundation’s English lessons we practise for our C1 level language exams.
Today (31st March) our mentor was waiting for us with a pleasant surprise, when we arrived for our English lesson. We went to a museum to see an exhibition called The ideal woman and the advertisement in the first part of the 20th century. We saw the era’s most typical advertisements, clothes, accessories and jewellery. It felt good to get lost in the world of corsets, fans, folding screens and to read the advertisements about why smart women’s heads don’t hurt( because of the aspirin, of course).
This was our English lesson, so we had to write about the exhibition on the subject in an essay in English, like on a language exam.
We liked that we had a lesson in a different place with different circumstances. In the warm sunshine we felt more relaxed and it was easier to speak in English.
