Researchers’ Night Again
Our desire is to visit the “Researchers’ Night” next year too.
The last Friday night in September was again dedicated to curiosity for the sciences: Researchers’ Night – supported by the EU – is a popular pan-European event giving the opportunity to meet science and have a glimpse behind the scenes through “fun” activities. It also aims at showing the public and mainly young people the advantages of pursuing a research career. Pécs joined to the program on fifth occasion, and we, from the Csányi Foundation took part on the programmes second time. One of the main themes were the biological process of aging and the mystery of longevity. But we were more interested in microscopes, robots, martial arts, healthy eating and the beauties of the botanical garden.
We saw an extensive range of chemical and physical experiments presenting the complexity of the material in everyday life. We got a taste of research methods of modern genetics and the hereditary diseases. We examined fungi colonize of different foods (fruit, bread, sausage) under a microscope. Each program was very exciting and we found it very interesting. Our desire is to visit the “Researchers’ Night” next year too. Students from Pécs
