On ice with Yina
According to the season we could not afford to skip ice-skating
According to the season we could not afford to skip ice-skating form the programmes in Szeged. But before carefree fun we had tasks to do. During the morning Yina compiled her report about her volunteer work at the Foundation, which gives useful feedback for us to for our future work. After dinner with the mentors we went to find medlar but we were unfortunate. Instead of medlar, Yina can try a piece of Hungarian cuisine in the form of quince jelly.
Early afternoon the members of group 1 arrived to the community house and they also could get an overall picture about South East Asia. Although it is not the first time Yina gives a presentation about her country to the students of the Foundation she was enthusiastic to talk about Singapore. She involved everyone into the discussion and she also found topic with everyone to start a conversation. We have learnt about the different traditional folk costumes of the people in Singapore and we have also learnt that there is no pension age limit there as in Hungary. Everyone makes living at old age from what they have saved during their hard-working years.
After the interesting and colourful English lesson everybody got into the cars and we went to the ice-skating rink. It was great because Yina chose to stay in Hungary during autumn and winter on purpose because in Singapore it is always summer thus she could get a little experience about winter in Hungary. Everyone enjoyed skating, the students encouraged each other and Yina also helped and encouraged them to ice-skate. Of course, close to the end of the day, everybody became a professional ice-skater and laughter outnumbered fall-overs. The tired group said farewell to Yina after the ice-skating because tomorrow she will be far away from Szeged.
