# Jász-Stones Oberkirchben

We first met the members of the German team HFG-Robos back at the FLL competition in Australia in 2024, where a good relationship quickly formed between us. Our connection has been maintained ever since, and during the past year, they visited us in Hungary. This year, we were given the opportunity to visit them, get to know their school, and spend a few days together. Team leader Henning Scheid prepared our program, and his team was already looking forward to working together.

On October 4, we set off from Budapest to visit Oberkirch in Germany. The first leg of our journey went smoothly; the Budapest–Frankfurt flight took only an hour and a half. From Frankfurt, we continued our journey by train and then by local public transport bus all the way to Oberkirch.

For us, the reunion is not only a friendly visit, but also an opportunity for an exchange of views and sharing experiences. We want to learn from each other and get to know the other team’s working methods, ideas, and experiences. Upon our arrival, the coaches of HFG-Robos welcomed us with great warmth. After checking into our hotel rooms and unpacking, they treated us to a delicious, traditional German dinner at the school, where Weisswurst and Sauerkraut were naturally a must. The evening was spent in a great atmosphere, and it was a joy to meet the members of the German team again. We are really looking forward to the days ahead, as we will visit the Erdrich company in Ramsbach, the Department of Mathematics at the university in Karlsruhe, and a high school in Offenburg. Alongside the professional programs, we can unwind from our fatigue at Schauenburg Castle and the Europabad.

“We started our day today at the HFG school, where we had the opportunity to gain insight into the daily routine of local education. We were able to participate in several different classes, during which we had the opportunity to experience German education. It was interesting to see the differences and similarities compared to education in Hungary. After the morning classes, we went for a joint walk along the Rems River, and then, returning to the school, we continued our preparations for the competition. We started working on the robot field while continuously sharing our experiences and ideas with the members of the German team, presenting our robot runs to each other, and sharing our innovation-related ideas as well. We ended the day with a cozy barbecue in a family atmosphere, where alongside the shared dinner we continued our conversations and got to know each other even better.”

“On Tuesday afternoon, we traveled by train to the CNC metalworking factory called Erdrich, where we saw various machines and robots. The owner of the company guided us around the factory. The manager’s assistant showed us how to program one of their simpler robots, and we also had to solve a specified task using an independently written program that we ran on a robotic arm. Everyone tried operating one of the cutting machines, with which we could carve our names onto a gift item. The company owner shared his opinion on artificial intelligence and what problems it might cause in the future. Controlling AI was also discussed during his presentation, as well as which jobs might be lost because of it.\
In his opinion, people need to pay attention to which path they choose in life, because AI can take away people’s opportunities before they even notice.\
After the factory tour, we had a joint exchange of ideas with HFG-Robos, where we showed each other our robots, task solutions, and attachments, sharing our knowledge with them.”
