The 7th grade students in Bournemouth
The so long expected day -when the groups from Kaposvár and Jászberény left to see the world and learn the English language- finally arrived.
st day – We met again at Liszt Ferenc airport at 11 o’clock on 12th July. We had plenty of time till the plane took off to discuss what had happened since the Életút Day.It was the first time that we travelled by plane and we were all very excited and of course our parents were even more excited. The taking off and the landing were a great experience, some students got even sick.We flew in wonderful and sunny weather above the clouds in -56C degrees and travelled at 830km/h towards London.Abdy, the representative of the language school, was waiting for us at the airport. It took us more than two hours to get to our school by coach. There our host families were waiting for us. Tomorrow morning we will meet at school at 8 o’clock where we will start the day with the language test.
nd day – We met in front of the language school at half past eight a.m..After the registration the school filled up with students of different nationalities. The students spent their morning writing the entry test. After this we went on a sightseeing tour by coach and we could see the most famous sights of Southborne. We drove along the shore where a lot of celebrities have their summer houses. We saw David Beckham’s summer cottage as well. After the sightseeing we went back to school and we had our cold lunch in the garden of the school. After it we went down to the seaside .In order to get there we had to follow the Fisherman’s Way where we enjoyed the company of a lot of squirrels. On the beach we collected a lot of different stones and shells and we tried to escape from the wild waves of the rough sea.At half past five we left for home to our host families.
rd day – We were very excited on our way to school today. It was the day when they decided which group our students will learn during the week. But before school we had had a bus trip to Bournemouth. We had visited the centre of the city and we had walked on the beach. Finally we went to a shopping centre where we had some free time.In the afternoon we went back to school, had lunch and the lessons started. We were divided into several levels from elementary to upper-intermediate level. We are together with Spanish, Italian,Argentinian,Indian,Japanese and Brazilian students. The afternoon hours flew away quickly and we went back to our families full of fantastic experiences.
th day – This morning we visited the oldest suburb of the city. Our guide took us to Christchurch. We visited Priory Church ,which was built in 1106.To our greatest surprise we met one of the priests of the church who 20 years ago visited Kaposvár with the choir of Bath and they sang in Csiky Gergely theatre on 15th March. We took a walk in the garden of the church and then we got to the ruins of an old caste through a beautiful park. Our guide told us a lot of interesting historical information After a short walk we got to a small stream where according to the legend the witches were tested and those women who were disloyal were punished. Our Ann also ’submitted’ herself to the test. We even manage to have some freetime before we started school.
th day – This morning was about sports.first tried to catch some crabs from the sea.We were not very lucky with this. Then at last the so much expected international football competition followed,in which we were much more successful. Those who did not play football could play frizbi and could watch how surfing and canoing was taught. We took a great walk along the beach of Christchurch and we collected a lot of shells and stones shaped by the sea.We spent the afternoon with lessons again.
th day – Today we went on a longer trip.We visited Poole ,the furthest suburb of Bournemouth. The seaside was beautiful but we couldn’t spend too much time because of the strong wind. Our guide showed us the most famous buildings and sights of the town and we got some free time which we spent together in a happy way.Unfortunatelly the mornings fly away very quickly,so just like on the other days,we had lessons again in the afternoon.Everybody is looking forward to tomorrow’s trip to London.
th day – We got up early this morning. At seven o’clock we were already on the bus travelling towards London. We hoped to have nice weather and indeed at around 10 o’clock a.m. the sky cleared up and the sun started shining. After getting off the bus we took our way towards Buckingham Palace.Unfortunatelly we couldn’t see the Changing of the Guard as it was too early. From here we went to see the Westminster Abby and the building of the parliement. Then, crossing the bridge over river Thames we arrived at London Eye.After getting our booked tickets and after the long queue we finally got onto this huge wheel, which was our greatest experience during our stay here.As she sky was clear we could see almost the whole London. After it we walked along Downing Street and stopped in front of nr.10 where the Prime Minister lived. We took a lot of photos and we could even see Tower Bridge from the distance. We said good-bye to London with broken heart but we hope to come back again soon.
th day – Unfortunately this is our last day in England. At half past nine we were gathering in front of the school and we went to the to the airport by bus from there. Everybody said goodbye to their host families the parting was difficult. On the bus we talked a lot about the events of the week. On the airport we were alredy excited a little because that was the first flight for everybody. Our flight delayed almost an hour but our captain made up the delay in the air. After six o’clock we landed in Budapest. The two groups parted sadly from each other but we vowed that we will do our best to go back to Bornemouth together. We thank the Foundation for the opportunity, we have spent unforgettable days together in England.
