Swimming camp in Pécs

Swimming camp in Pécs

This week, the swimming camp for the youngest children of Pécs has also started. While the focus of the week is, of course, on the pool and swimsuits, activities do not stop at the water’s edge. During the camp, the children will get a glimpse into the art of making silk candy, enjoy an afternoon of bobsledding at Mecsextrém Park, and have a movie screening at Cinema City, where they can all watch the funny moments of Despicable Me 4. Little mentors will lead fun tasks to ease the excitement of both the young and older participants. By the end of the week, everyone will surely be enriched with new knowledge and experiences!

This is how we saw it…

“The week was truly full of experiences for us. Every morning, the children learned the intricacies of swimming at the Pécs Hullámfürdő (Wave Pool), and Gréti néni and Sebi bácsi did their best to pass on as much knowledge as possible. This is how they learned to swim freestyle and backstroke, and the more advanced swimmers could also refine their breaststroke and diving techniques. Of course, there was plenty of time for fun as well. At the end of the lessons, they often played different water games, and we also participated in enriching programs together. As a warm-up for the camp, we played brain-teasing games like Stay Standing and Kahoot, and we burned off the remaining energy of the day with Twister. In the following days, we went to the cinema to watch Despicable Me 4, made our own handmade lollipops in the Zsolnay Quarter, and even visited Mecsextrém Park, where everyone got to bobsled. As the camp came to a close, we stayed at the Community House, organizing a massive Just Dance competition alongside daily ping-pong and FIFA matches. Naturally, we tried to beat the heat with some cold ice cream. We think this week was great for the group, as they could be together again, and the programs were a perfect opportunity to strengthen their bonds while increasingly involving us in their little conversations. As little mentors, we faced new challenges, but the children’s smiles always made up for it. We listened to their stories with enthusiasm, sometimes amazed at how much they know at such a young age. It was also a positive experience for us, as we are forming closer connections with our youngest group members. In the future, we will continue to spend as much time as possible with the others and try to set the best example for them. We are thankful for this week to the Csányi Foundation and our mentors!”

“I liked the bobsledding the best, but we could have gone for a few more rounds because I had so much fun. The cinema and lollipop-making were also great, and when we went for ice cream in the mall, I enjoyed being able to look around the shops a bit. Playing Twister with the little mentors was really fun too. I feel like I learned a lot in swimming, and I’m proud of myself for improving so much in just five days and being able to swim 50 meters. I had a great time, and I hope I can improve my swimming even more in the future. I think this camp turned out great.”

“The swimming camp was full of experiences and good moments. We can now definitely say we can swim. Everyone loved the outdoor pool’s waves the most, as it felt like being at the sea. The ice cream was perfect in this hot weather, and we also really enjoyed the bobsledding; if we could, we would have gone for a few more rounds. I also enjoyed making lollipops in the Zsolnay Quarter, and they turned out delicious. It was worth it because we could also play at the playground, and everyone loved the red slide. I also really liked the cinema, and the movie was fun, especially since I recognized all the songs they included. Thank you for all the diverse and exciting programs; this was a thrilling experience for us.”

“I liked it when we went to the pool, and the water was waving, and we jumped in it. I also liked when we played in the water. Bobsledding was great, and I enjoyed it very much. The ice cream was refreshing. I made a lot of progress in swimming. Gréti néni and Sebi bácsi were very kind and helped us with everything. The movie was also good, and I really enjoyed the film we watched. Playing water polo was fun too. Overall, I had a great time at the camp, gained a lot of experiences, and learned to swim quite well.”

“I really enjoyed the camp. The programs were diverse, and I could improve my swimming skills. I liked that we had some free time, and the afternoon programs were especially fun, but my favorite was bobsledding. I was glad to watch a new movie at the cinema, and the lollipops we made were really tasty.”

“The camp was really enjoyable. The swimming lessons were great, especially backstroke, which I wasn’t good at before, but I improved a lot. I also got better at diving. We had a lot of programs, but there was always time to rest, so it wasn’t overwhelming. My favorite was the Wednesday lollipop-making session at the Candy Factory in the Zsolnay Quarter. They showed us how to flavor and color the candy. The next step was the best part—shaping the lollipops individually. Thursday was great too. We all went to Mecsextrém Park to bobsled. It was awesome!”

“I really enjoyed the swimming camp. We did a lot of fun things. My favorite was bobsledding and the cinema, but the other programs were great too. The swimming lessons helped improve my skills. The swimming instructors were always helpful and kind, and they made everything fun. The mentors and little mentors also helped us and came up with good programs. The camp took place at the Community House, but the swimming was at the Pécs Hullámfürdő. We often went for ice cream, and we had free time too. This is a short summary of the swimming camp in Pécs.”

Bobsledding was my favorite, as I had never done it before, but I loved it! Everyone helped with everything if needed, and I think this was a really great camp!”

“I really enjoyed the swimming camp. I was able to improve my swimming technique in many areas. The afternoon programs were also great. We went bobsledding, made lollipops, played at the playground, and danced. We played a lot during swimming too. We practiced various swimming styles, like backstroke and freestyle. But we didn’t just swim—we also practiced diving. We also went to the Community House and had ice cream. I really liked the camp.”

“I really liked the swimming camp. In the mornings, we always had swimming lessons, where we learned different swimming styles and corrected our mistakes. In the afternoons, we played with the little mentors, went to the cinema to watch Despicable Me 4, or went bobsledding. On Wednesday, we visited the Zsolnay Quarter, where we made lollipops. I think everyone enjoyed going for ice cream so many times. Throughout the camp, I was able to gain more experience. The camp was really good.”
