Farewell – my time at the Csányi Foundation
I just want to thank the Csányi Foundation for this amazing opportunity and especially the children from Szeged and the mentors called Peter and Piroska, who helped me through my time here and made my experience special.
It has been almost six weeks since I arrived in Budapest and I came to Szeged, I was really nervous and didn’t know what to expect, but now I am definitely sure that it has been the best experience of my life.
I had the opportunity to get know the children from the Szeged Community House and all the other Communities Houses of the Csányi Foundation. I spent a great time with them, we talked we had fun, got to know each other. I hope they have learned a lot of good things from me just as I learned from them.
The Csányi Foundation with all the mentors does an extremely important job in the society by helping these children, not only in academic related subjects but in their lives. I had the opportunity to see the mentor’s work closely how they are committed to these children helping them with their families, school and social background. They are a big family and I am happy for being a part of it even that it was for a short time.
I participated in a lot of programs like in field trips, language classes, sport events, festivals, meetings etc. I was given the opportunity to talk to them about my country, my culture. I could see the children’s improvement on English communication skills during my time here and it feels so good to know that I helped them with that.
After all the time I spent here I could participate on the biggest event of the year: The Day of the Lifelong Advantage Programme.
The event was fantastic because everybody was in Sarlóspuszta, where we spent 3 days together. On the first day we were fascinated by the music of the Csányi Band where talented children performed a great show. We devoted the second day to sport by taking part in a relay where the activities were specially designed in the spirit of the Olympic Games. The third day was crowned by the Gala award ceremony, after which a football match was played. It was honorable because the children played with the Founder and his prominent guest among whom we could welcome the Prime Minister too. It was a great play.
I just want to thank the Csányi Foundation for this amazing opportunity and especially the children from Szeged and the mentors called Peter and Piroska, who helped me through my time here and made my experience special. I really hope to come back some day and meet everybody again. I am sure that all the children will succeed in the future by working so hard and I hope other volunteers will have the opportunity to come to the Csányi Foundation to gain some great lifelong experience.
