Thinking development and logic camp in Veszprém

Thinking development and logic camp in Veszprém

In the early afternoon of July 21st, we arrived at the site of the camp in Veszprém, at the dormitory of the Pannon University. After booking the accommodation, we had lunch and the camp leader explained the events of the coming days. The children were divided into two groups, and then the logic and drama developments began. The sessions lasted one and a half hours, followed by a short snack break, after which the groups changed places. In the evening, we went to dinner, and then a board game started as the end of the day. We are already looking forward to the programs of the week ahead.

On July 22, at 8:00 a.m., our day began with a breakfast. After that, we were divided into the usual 2 groups and everyone went to the sessions, which were either drama or logic class. During these lessons, we worked alternately, both groups worked on both topics. After lunch, we went to the Tapolca spring cave, where we first got a guided tour of the museum, then we could watch a short film about the formation of karsts. After that, everyone’s favorite was the boat ride. During the boat ride, with 2 or 3 people in a boat, we could all admire the cave. It was a great experience for me and the other members of the group, it was very beautiful, we laughed a lot while rowing. After a short journey, we arrived at the Szigliget castle, where we could hear a small performance for the first time. One of the little mentors, Panna, introduced us to the history of the castle and told us interesting facts about the history of the castle. After some free time, we conquered the top of the castle, where an unforgettable panorama of Lake Balaton awaited us. At the end of our tour, they presented us with a well-deserved ice cream. The rest of the evening was spent socializing, talking and watching movies! Thank you for a day full of unforgettable experiences! (Ágnes Anna Oláh, Jászság group 4)

On Monday morning, everyone came to breakfast tired but enthusiastic. After breakfast, the development programs started in two groups, where we participated in drama and logic sessions. In logic class, a competition was announced to see who could collect the most matches. There was a match for each correctly solved task. The drama class was similarly exciting. The different dramas aroused our different senses. However, most of the games focused on attention and observation. The morning flew by quickly, and we were already on our way to the Tapolca Spring Cave. Our cave tour started with a guided tour, which included the creation of the cave and the rocks, as well as a presentation of the local wildlife. After that, we finally got on a boat to explore the underground waters. The biggest thrill was that we could drive our own boats. It was a great adventure for everyone, from which everyone takes only positive experiences home. Our next stop was the Szigliget castle, where everyone could walk through the castle on the Balaton in small groups at their own pace. We ended our trip with a group photo at the top of the castle with the beautiful scenery. Thank you for the colorful programs! (György Bánk Kohári, Szeged group 3)

On Tuesday morning, our day started with a logical session, where we again solved new and interesting, thought-provoking tasks for which we received points. This was followed by a drama session, which again took place in a very good mood, we really enjoyed the varied tasks. The tasks of the development classes also had the power of team cohesion, they forged us even more together, which we really enjoyed. After lunch, we spent the afternoon at Balatonfüzfő beach, where we not only had the opportunity to go to the beach, but also had the opportunity to play volleyball and board games. The wonderful panorama and the proximity of the water was a great experience for us, we were able to enjoy each other’s company without forgetting. After dinner, we headed for the city center, where we walked around the old town and got to know the sights of the city of Veszprém. By the end of the day, we were very tired, but again we were enriched with many new and exciting experiences. (Hanna Kovács, Jászság group 4)

We started today with breakfast, and then the mentors explained the day’s program. Once again, our morning started with a logic session, we were able to learn new logic games and collect points, which we summed up at the end of the session. Then we switched places with the other group, they came to logic and we came to drama. In drama class, there were very cozy group tasks to get used to it even more. We played games that were very funny and entertaining, but still required a lot of attention. The development classes were followed by lunch and another bus trip. The group traveled all the way to Balatonfűzfő, where we went ashore on the beach. The programs on the beach were very varied, many people cooled off in the waters of Lake Balaton, some played board games, and others played volleyball together on the beach. We had a great time and the afternoon just flew by. We got back very tired, we immediately went to dinner and then had a good rest. (Eszter Hanna Tuba, Szeged group 3)

On Wednesday, we started our day earlier than usual because of our trip.  After breakfast, we boarded the bus, which took us straight to Pannonhalma. We visited the main abbey of Pannonhalm, where at the beginning the little mentors told us about the place as an introduction, and then we split up into groups. My group headed for the treasury, where chalices, abbot’s rings and processional crosses could be viewed. Treasures were made of precious stones, precious metals, and various precious materials and were used during Masses. Then we went to the abbey library, where 14,000 old documents, codices and books awaited us. Most of them were written in Latin, written by monks. After discovering the abbey, we continued on our way. We arrived in Bakonyszentlászló, where we hiked in the beautiful nature of the Cuha Valley. We went through a nature trail where we were surrounded by streams, limestone and dolomite stones and hills. In its living world, water is a fundamental element, because it is home to several types of insects, such as spiny fleas, common water fleas, wood frogs and many others. During our journey, we crossed streams, logs and climbed steep mountain peaks. After walking back and forth, we had an ice cream at the nearby ice cream shop. We were able to take part in a very rich and exciting excursion today, for which we are grateful. (Mága Bianka- Jászság group 4)

On Wednesday morning, our journey led us to Pannonhalm Abbey, where we could see a lot of interesting things. We saw the church and a beautiful large library. The botanical garden was also beautiful. After admiring everything, we visited Bakonyszentlászlo, where we could admire the Cuha Valley. It is worth knowing about the valley that its water cycle is very extreme, this is also reflected in its name, as it is a word of Slavic origin, meaning thousand years old. In addition, there is little water flowing on the higher peaks even in the winter half-year, as the karst cracks in the limestone and dolmite rock of the gorges absorb almost all water. This day went very well, just like the others. We were able to gain a lot of new knowledge and gain new experiences. (Rozália Petrovics Kármen – Szeged group 3)

The 4th day of our camp in Veszprém was not poor in programs either. On Thursday morning, we visited the Faculty of Informatics of Pannon University to attend a lecture on artificial intelligence. We were able to learn many new interesting things about the topic. I, as a “programming seedling”, was happy to hear what was behind such a program in the technical field. In addition, I also found it interesting that the presentation included some details from our tender works. In the afternoon we left for Tihany. We could see the Abbey, the spectacular shore of Lake Balaton, and we could go around the settlement. We also got to know the lavender cult typical of the northern shore of Lake Balaton. After that, we could sail to Balatonfüred, where we could also walk around the town. All in all, it was a day rich in programs, in which everyone could learn something. (Zsolt Kovács, Jászság group 4)

On Thursday, the members of the group gained a lot of experience and useful knowledge. In the morning, the campers could take part in an interactive presentation, as well as Dr. We listened to Tibor Dulai’s presentation, which discussed a very important achievement of our time, the craft intelligence. Among other things, the professor discussed the neural network system, the history of AI, GPT — and generative systems and their operation, as well as the use of AI software. In addition, he referred in several places to the Csanyis’ pre-written essays on the topic, in circles such as the effects of AI systems on our own lives and the dangers of software, about which everyone had a subjective opinion, which made the topic quite colorful. After a hearty lunch and a hearty siesta, the pinch team headed for the city of Tihany. The enthusiastic group of students admired the Tihany Abbey and explored the city center, where we admired the impressive architecture of the abbey and the picturesque view of Lake Balaton. The highlight of the trip was a boat trip between Tihany and Balatonfüred, during which we enjoyed the beauty of the lake. During the whole day’s program, we gained many experiences and returned to Veszprém with unforgettable memories, where a Kahoot challenge was waiting for us, which was put together by one of the camp’s mentors, Gábor Berta. (Ede Tas Szabó, Márkó Felicián Laurinyecz, Szeged group 3)

On Friday, we started our day at 8 a.m. with breakfast, and then the drama and logic session began. On the occasion of the last day, both development teachers made the whole thing even more playful, so we really had a good time. The tasks were exciting and there was a good atmosphere in both sessions. In the afternoon, we took part in a city competition, which was put together by the little mentors and our volunteer. We had fun solving the task and bonded even better. We ended the day with the announcement of the results, and we watched a video compiled from the pictures we took during the camp. I had a great time during the camp. The organization was very good, I hope our other camps will be just as good. We have a fantastic week behind us. Thank you very much for the camp opportunity. (Letícia Domján, Jászság group 4)

On Friday, we had sessions after breakfast. In drama class, we shaped a person based on a special food and wrote an exciting story about our fictional person, which we shared with our peers. Some of the stories were exciting and eventful, while others were a bit scary and absurd. In logic class, we developed our “engineering” skills by building bridges, which consisted of loop sticks and cellux. We were given fifty minutes to do this and after we finished, we tested how durable the bridges were with a full bucket. In the afternoon, we explored the city of Veszprém. This included a quiz prepared by Ádám Balogh, which During the tour, we were rewarded based on the results. (Ráhel Rebeka Juhász, Szeged group 3)
