Freshmen camp 2024
During the morning, the buses from Szeged, Mohács and Kaposvár rolled into the Sárlóspuszta freshman camp. After the first lunch together, we laid down the basic rules of the camp, discussed the programmes and started getting to know each other. Due to the good weather, the children had the opportunity to explore the camp area and also had a dip in the pool. After dinner, the children continued to make friends through a variety of games that allowed them to get to know not only their own group, but also their sibling groups. Of course, football and number wars were unmissable and brought the day to an end. From tomorrow, the learning methodology and drama sessions will begin, and the small mentors will organise interesting and playful team-building activities for each day.
Monday: The camp began with study skills and drama classes, where the children got to know each other and their own learning styles through games. Throughout the morning, they participated in various interesting activities, forming many new friendships. In the afternoon, swimming provided a refreshing break on a hot summer day. Afterward, we held a ceremony to officially welcome the newcomers to the Foundation, presenting everyone with a “Csányi” T-shirt, cap, and bag, symbolizing their belonging. The day continued with an exciting football tournament in which all the participants enthusiastically took part. In the evening, we ended the program with a crafting session, allowing the children to express their creativity using various techniques.
Tuesday: The day began with the Puszta Olympics, where the “Number 1” team won the award for the best performance after fierce competition. The study skills and drama classes continued, offering deeper insights into effective learning and self-expression methods. After the morning classes, there was another swimming session, where the children played freely in the water. After dinner, the junior mentors organized an exciting quiz night, where teams competed on Kahoot! to test their knowledge and speed. The evening concluded with another round of the football tournament, featuring thrilling matches.
Wednesday: The study skills and drama sessions continued, with the children growing more confident in applying the new techniques they had learned. Swimming was once again part of the day, followed by board games filled with laughter and fun. After dinner, crafting took center stage, with the children creating various items using different materials and tools: paper dragons, bracelets, necklaces, canvas bags, painted stones, and each community house even had its own flag. Junior mentors also made glitter tattoos, which were a big hit. The evening ended with the increasingly exciting football tournament.
Thursday: The focus was on drama classes, where the children developed their expressive skills and got to know their groupmates better through various exercises and games. In the afternoon, they swam again, freely enjoying the water and sunshine. The crafting session in the afternoon led to more creative projects, and later, the children released pigeons, a special and touching moment for everyone. The evening once again concluded with the football tournament matches.
Friday: The day started with a special opportunity, the Balloon Program, where the children learned first aid. This education was not only useful but also highly engaging, as they learned the basics of life-saving in a playful manner. In the afternoon, the “Talent Show” took place, where the children showcased their talents in various categories. Everyone eagerly awaited the announcement of the results to see who would be recognized. Awards for the top performers in the football tournament were also presented. The rest of the day featured more swimming, followed by the football tournament finals. After a week of intense competition, the junior mentors played against the children in a match, which ended with the “little ones” winning by a large margin. The evening ended with a cheerful children’s disco, where everyone danced and celebrated joyfully, capping off the entire week.
