Filmmaking and Design in Kaposvár

Filmmaking and Design in Kaposvár

On Saturday, February 22, the Kaposvár Knowledge Center hosted Group 1 of the Kaposvár Community House for their Balaton Project.

During the program, the children explored the legends of Lake Balaton using creative tools and created animated films, all while developing their visual and design skills.

Earlier in the project, participants designed and built backgrounds and characters, which they have now used for filming their short films. Throughout the sessions, the children gained insight into filmmaking techniques, particularly frame composition and the use of different shot types. One of their short films has already been edited, but voice-over work, sound effects, and music integration are still in progress before the final version is complete.

The next step in the project will be creating a LEGO stop-motion animation. The children will not only participate in animating the figures but will also design and create the backgrounds and outfits for the LEGO minifigures by hand. Through this task, they will further develop their creativity, design skills, visual awareness, and problem-solving abilities.

The project provides an excellent opportunity for children to engage with cultural heritage in a creative way, while learning about filmmaking techniques in a playful manner. The project will, of course, continue, with many exciting milestones ahead for the participants.
