# Family Day in Budapest for Pécs 3

On Saturday, October 10th, early in the morning at 5:14 AM, the Pécs 3 group set off for the capital. The purpose of the trip was to allow our beneficiaries and their family members to gain new experiences together while enriching themselves with interesting and useful knowledge. The journey itself was a special adventure: we arrived in Budapest by InterCity train, where we traveled on the green, red, and blue metro lines, giving participants a closer look at the capital’s public transport system.

Our first stop was the Europa Experience Centre, where we participated in an interactive presentation split into two groups. Parents and younger siblings explored the special content of the exhibition in Hungarian, while the beneficiaries of the Pécs 3 group discovered it in English. With the help of modern multimedia tools, we gained insight into the workings of the European Union and how EU decisions affect our daily lives. In the immersive cinema, through an impressive visual experience, we learned about the key challenges facing Europe and how European countries work together to solve shared problems. We explored the interactive map of Europe with great interest, learned about the work of Members of the European Parliament and European Commissioners, and saw through personal stories how the European Union influences people’s everyday lives. A special highlight was the spectacular photo booth, where we could take group selfies and send them home to ourselves via email.

Our program continued at the Money Museum located in the Buda Castle Postal Palace. One of Hungary’s most modern museums, it interactively presents the history, functioning, and potential future of money. In the 1,300-square-meter exhibition space, nearly 200 digital screens, 54 different installations, and numerous short films help visitors understand the financial world. After viewing the temporary exhibition, we took part in a guided tour where we learned about the history of the creation of money, the development of trade, and the basics of stock market operations through playful tasks. During the visit, everyone was able to actively participate in the interactive activities, making learning a true experience.

One of the biggest highlights of the day was the museum’s famous gold bar. Anyone can lift the 12.4-kilogram real gold ingot using a special vault mechanism. Holding an object representing such enormous value is no ordinary feeling. Depending on the world market price of gold, the ingot is worth hundreds of millions of forints, and according to the latest estimates, it could be worth close to half a billion forints. At the end of the program, we were able to design our own currency featuring our own photos, which we could also print out.

During the trip, we not only acquired new knowledge but were also enriched with many shared experiences. The varied programs were perfectly complemented by the bright, sunny autumn weather. Late in the evening, pleasantly tired but with many smiles and unforgettable memories, we returned home.

**We would like to thank the Csányi Foundation for allowing us to be part of this fantastic program!**
