Advocacy Forum in Jászberény
On Friday afternoon, we held our autumn Advocacy Forum in Jászberény. The event had a larger turnout than usual, as several parents from our youngest group showed interest and joined us.
We began by discussing the latest updates regarding our Community House and the tasks awaiting our children. Topics included the Portfolio Defense for 10th graders, preparations for graduation, various levels of language exams, and ICDL certifications. We also marked the date for the next Life Path Festival in our calendars.
Participants shared insights from the Foundation-level Advocacy Forum held in Kaposvár. We had an extended discussion about the activities of the children and parents, agreeing that parents need to persistently encourage their children, especially when they feel tired or are tempted by other programs. For younger children, especially those in primary school, it’s still largely up to us parents to ensure they participate in the Foundation’s programs.
We also acknowledged the challenges of balancing work with attending events. Some parents juggle multiple jobs or shifts, making it harder to join. Nevertheless, events like Parents’ Academy, parent meetings, and Family Days are particularly important. We agreed it would be ideal if more parents attended these programs and if both parents and children felt they were part of a larger community, something that these events aim to foster.
The next opportunity for all the children of the Community House and their families to come together will be the Advent Celebration in December.
