Testimony of a guidebook author
“On 12 June, the last Formal of the 22-23 school year took place in S10 itself – we treated ourselves, so to speak. And we welcomed András Török, cultural historian, writer and S10 Academy instructor, on the occasion of the re-launch of his Budapest Book. The aim of the book is to introduce the cultural and historical image of the city to young people who were not born in Budapest, to turn Budapest into a second hometown in the eyes of young people, in contrast to other tourist guidebooks.
We were delighted that the discussion was led by dr. Miklós Radoszáv, who has lived in Budapest for several decades now, and was able to share his own experiences of many of the points in the book. Special thanks to Boardmember Edwárd Papp, for coming and for his presence and thoughts, which added to the quality of the event.
The thought I would like to take away with me is what is the purpose of the S10 Academy. I would like to become an intellectual who is open-minded, curious, who can look at the world critically and who can constantly question the truth of his own views, who can look at things on many levels and evaluate them accordingly.” László Gázsik, Nagybajom Group 1
“I was very happy to attend the Formal Dinner Night of the students in Budapest, where András Török was the invited guest to present his newly published book. It was extremely informative and interesting to get to know the capital through the eyes and experiences of the author. I was very happy to meet again with many of my fellow members. It is good to see that our society is still open and curious.” Péter Panka, Pécs Group 1
