Singing Makes Life Beautiful…

Singing Makes Life Beautiful…

I could begin by saying, “What am I worth without music?”—and honestly, I can’t imagine myself in this world without it. I’ve sung all my life, but it was about a year ago that I began taking singing more seriously. And last week, the first real challenge finally arrived—in Bonyhád.

As a pianist, I’ve been in similar situations before, but in terms of singing—aside from school folk song contests in lower and upper grades—this was my first serious experience in every sense. I prepared a lot and was very curious about what it would feel like, how I would perform, and what feedback the jury would give.

I competed in both the classical and light music categories, singing four pieces—by Falconieri, Schubert, Szabolcs Fényes, and Jenő Huszka. I felt these songs really suited me; each had a strong character and deep emotion, which allowed me to approach them from an expressive, almost theatrical perspective as well.

At the end of the day, I returned home with a silver certificate—and I think, for a first time, I can be satisfied. After the competition, we had the chance to talk with the jury and ask for professional feedback. I wasn’t the only one representing Kaposvár—several other singers from our music school also took part, and we supported and cheered each other on throughout the day.

This competition gave me an incredible boost, and now I feel even more motivated to take on the next challenges—because I still have two more competitions waiting for me this school year…
