Family Day in Szentes
On our group’s autumn family day, various activities awaited young and old. For the first time, the children could create a reflection painting by Gustav Klimt “The Tree of Life” or a Christmas work inspired by it using the canvas-acrylic-felt technique. Meanwhile, the “olders” took part in a self-awareness and personality development session. In the afternoon, the city was shrouded in mystery, but its “animated” statues and public spots – which gave a riddle about their identity in a short poem – were waiting for the competitors of the small teams to reveal their identity. Seeing the reddened faces in the exciting game, we did not announce a winner, rather we all shared the fruit and chocolate prizes – mentor Sándor Kovács
“Adults and parents are rarely given the opportunity to learn about themselves and each other and to connect with each other during spontaneous play. That is why it was important that they also get a taste of the self-knowledge and personality development games that the children have already played several times. The tasks opened up the adults and afterwards, reflecting on each other’s lives, a conversation developed between us.” – Volunteer Dorottya Kékegyi
“Today we participated in an exciting family day. The children painted a tree or a Christmas tree, which had to be done using a special technique. The time flew by in a good atmosphere, amid conversations… Meanwhile, the parents completed playful tasks in a self-knowledge and community-building program. After lunch, we participated in a station-finding task, where we had to find some of the sights of Szentes based on poetic quotations. It was also a very good atmosphere and in the end everyone achieved a place at the announcement of the results!” – Hajdú family
