Advent in Szentes
The children and their parents from Group 1 in Szentes spent the evening together on 9 December in the house. In the afternoon, the children started decorating the Christmas tree in our community centre, a sign that today is a festive day. Later, we started a craft activity: with our volunteer, the children and grandchildren made Christmas ornaments in the form of baubles, partly to show the traditional shapes and colours and partly to emphasise the use of recycled materials. Meanwhile, pleasant festive music was playing and cheerful conversation took place. Towards the end of the year, we have perhaps even less time than usual for such things, which is why these occasions are so important. At the end of the work, another volunteer, Mrs Istvánné Csige, the children’s “Aunt Erzsike”, gave each child a personal surprise. Meanwhile, it turned out that while the families were busy, the Christmas presents had sneaked into the next room “unnoticed” – no wonder, as they wouldn’t have fit under the tree! The Bonafarm group’s gift packs make everyone’s holidays brighter, but so do the little things we made for each other earlier, and now they have finally found a home. After the joyful moments, we crowned our evening with dinner and after the last chocolate cake or salty candy, we went home happy. – Sándor Kovács mentor, Szentes 1.
