Chocolate… Endless Chocolate
On the fourth day of our trip (2 July) we visited the Zotter Chocolate factory in Riegersburg. On the way home we stopped in Szalafő-Pityerszer in the Őrségi National Park.
Today it felt like we were in the Chocolate-heaven, as half of the day was about chocolate, of course not only in theory. From the trailer video before the tour we learnt that Josef Zotter, the owner of the Company takes part in every process from the import of cocoa beans to the process of sending the products to the market. Not only could we see the steps of producing chocolate (cocoa beans, cocoa powder, cocoa butter), but also could taste most of the final products and the used materials. If one doesn’t like permanency then one can have different types of chocolate on every day for a year, as the Zotter Chocolate Factory produces 365 different types. After the one and a half hour chocolate tasting we could try some special hot chocolate drinks.
Later we went to the Őrségi National Park, where we visited a skansen. We could see how everyday life and architecture were in the Őrség. We gained a lot of new historical knowledge, and we even learn some things in linguistics too.
